| China Embassy in Croatia welcomes new Commercial Counsellor |

H.E. Mr. Wu Zhenglong, Chinese Ambassador to Croatia hosted a reception on January 9, 2006 to bid farewell to Mr. Han Bing, the former Economic and Commercial Counsellor, and welcome Mr. Tan Shufu, the new Counsellor. Representatives from Croatian government departments, Croatian chamber of economy and associations, major companies, media, Chinese community in Croatia attended the reception.
Ambassador Wu highly appreciated Mr. Han’s contributions to the economic and commercial development between China and Croatia during his tenure. He also briefed on Chinese economy in 2005 and the status of bilateral economic and commercial cooperation between China and Croatia before expressing fully confidence in the future economic development.
Ambassador Wu pointed out in his speech that the bilateral trade increased at a high speed in 2005. The trade volume in the first 11 months has reached US$560 million, a sharp rise of 70.3% than the same period of 2004, of which, Croatia exported goods valued US$43 million to China with a growth rate of 108%, a symbol of huge potential between the two countries.
